Singed 2nd Excerpt

_________________________________________________________________________________

DECEMBER

Hey everyone!

I have the next part available of the intro to Singed :

Here is the blurb :

Pounding through the dense overgrowth of the forest, following the frantic steps of her parents, her brother right on her heels, sixteen-year old Zaryn Reshnor had no idea where they would take refuge.  Within the kingdom’s gates was one thing, but out here, in the forest, there were many hunters that would take a satchel of silver to behead the king.  And far too many sorcerers that would pay twice that much for just one jug of dragon’s blood.

Under the skin, her wings itched as she thought about it.  She had no desire to see her father’s head displayed in the center of the kingdom, nor was she interested in giving up any of her blood.  Which meant continue fleeing as fast as possible.

To her, it seemed as if they were just running blindly, the sounds of war and dying still roaring loud behind them.  Bushes rustled, tree branches cracked and broke as the family raced by.  Her grip tightened around the metal ring clutched in her fist, and as it cut into her palm, the biting pain reminded her of why she needed to hold it tight.

Guilt surged through her, filling her gut.

She wasn’t exactly sure what was happening, or why they were running, but as the Princess of Chosen Realm, she had no choice but to move fast on orders to run.  Run, and shove the accusing voice in her head back into the far reaches of her brain.  This surprise attack didn’t have anything to do with her or the box she’d opened.  In fact, her only indication that something was amiss had been twenty minutes ago when her older brother, Amerea, had burst into her room hissing, “Zarie!  No time for games.  We have to move now!”  And as he had said it, Zaryn had heard the screams and sounds of war weaponry coming from outside her window.  Outside was the land of Chosen Realm, and within it, their castle.

Zaryn had only grabbed two things, the first was her royal ring.  It was the only thing of worth that the invading Hunters could want.  They wouldn’t get it if she had anything to say about it.  Over her dead body.  From the sounds outside, that was exactly what they intended.  Jerking it from the box beside her bed, Zaryn fumbled and almost dropped the shimmering ring in her haste to follow her brother.

The second thing was now clutched tightly in her fist as she ran.  It was a picture of herself and her brother, the best one of them together, she’d always thought.  She didn’t know why she’d grabbed it, but she had.

Singed 1st Excerpt

________________________________________________________________________________

DECEMBER
Hey everyone, and Seasons Greetings!

I really like sharing blurbs, and I feel like sharing the intro blurb for my novel project Singed :

Here is the blurb:

‘Death.’

She tried to fight it.  Whipping her head sideways, she dug her fingers deep into the spongy tree bark, easily breaking the brown outer layer.  Unwillingly, an image of her parents covered in their own blood popped into her head and Zaryn squeezed her eyes shut tightly, willing the image away.  But she allowed herself a few stolen seconds to revel in the crazy satisfaction that accompanied the image.

 “Oh no,” she whispered.

For weeks, she’d been assaulted by the horrible images, scenes of her family broken and murdered.  Horrifying yes, but even more so, was the strange delight that she took in it.  Delight and horror and shame, all mixed together.  Immediately after a vision, she wondered if she was losing it.  Maybe she was, and it would be a shame, too.  ‘Not like there’s anyone that I can talk to about it anyway.’  She forced the thoughts to the back of her mind and focused on the task at hand.

Right now, she needed to run.

As if her life depended on it.

It did.

Geeks TV series - Documenting! (2)

AGAIN,

HUGE Shout - OUTS
to my AMAZING cast of teens on the Geeks re-branding project.
(Unfortunately, I can't release actual pics as yet... too early.)
It's eerie the way that they were able to bring
each character to life!

(Mind you, they have only had access to ONE CHAPTER of the script, and their individual character descriptions......

....but they nailed their characters' emotions flawlessly.)

....sullenness....
....doubt....
....youthful joy....
....mistrust....
....cockiness....

...unless they were just being their normal, teenaged selves, and I didn't realize!
Perhaps...but they were great at the photo shoot regardless!

Geeks TV series - Documenting! (1)

FINALLY!

I just completed the biggest hurdle of the summer : Project Geeks Re-Branding.  So, I am undertaking the splendiferous 😁 project of turning my Geeks YA series into a teen mini-series for television....

Yesterday was the promotional photo shoot with the cast, and it went flawlessly!!!! (Even though the shoot literally took 'the entire day'!)

Since I can be a Nervous Nellie sometimes, I was up from 4:00 am that morning, totally convinced that the photo shoot would be a total flop.....😬......

......but it wasn't!!!!!!!!!!!

Many shout-outs to my AMAZING cast of teens who just seemed to get the poses perfectly almost every time, AND to my two production directors who directed all the shots and poses without my even being in the room.  BIG shout-out to ME, who had to be the make-up artist for the day (since the budget was small...lol), and managed to do great make-up on everyone!!!

It's so amazing to me that the Geeks books (parts 1&2) were released in 2013, and even 4 years later, I am still able to be invested in the series.

1st Phase is complete!!!

Many more phases to go, and I'm so excited!!!

(PS....I can't wait to start writing again, though....)

(For any reader that has followed my work, I would like to thank you for your support and also to apologize for my lengthy writing break in 2015 - 2016.  During that time, I experienced personal difficulties, which overshadowed the production of my work.

Now I am BACK!

Thank you for your support!)
